Sustainability communications kits
Stay on the right track with our sustainability communications kits
Wherever you are on the journey to net zero, communications professionals need to address the demands of all stakeholders without the risk of greenwashing and hushing. Communicating sustainability can be challenging due to changing regulations and different measurement criteria. We are here to help. We can get you up and running, enabling communications that you can be confident will enhance your reputation.
Sustainability Communications Starter Kit
Delivered in 30 days, this programme will allow you to identify where you are on the journey to net zero. It will enable you to communicate your sustainability initiatives and get you on the front foot, taking the lead in sustainability communications.
What’s covered
-
We use a simple questionnaire to identify your organisation's current position on the journey to net zero, which is critical for communicating sustainability. We will provide a roadmap for your communications, identifying where you are on the journey and the next steps to be taken.
-
Having built a roadmap for your communications, we develop a framework for communicating your initiatives without the risk of greenwashing. This supports you in levelling expectations within the organisation about what can be communicated, when and to whom. The framework is your insurance policy against greenwashing or hushing.
-
We work together to develop primary corporate sustainability messaging and proof points to support your communications.
The Starter Kit identifies where you are on the journey to net zero, creates a communications framework and explains how to communicate initiatives that your organisation is undertaking based on revised sustainability corporate messaging.
Intermediate Sustainability Communications Kit
The Intermediate Sustainability Communications Kit assumes that you have identified where the organisation is on the path to net zero and has a robust communication framework for articulating progress. Without these solid foundations, there is a risk of greenwashing and hushing.
The Intermediate programme builds on the principles developed in the Starter Kit and takes the next step in developing broader communications and preparing plans should the organisation become a target with regards to its environmental credentials.
What’s covered
-
Initially, we review the organisation's sustainability messaging to ensure that it aligns with its progress on the path to net zero. This will identify any potential risks and opportunities for messaging development.
-
We identify five key sustainability risks that could impact the organisation’s reputation. Once the key risk has been identified, we develop a playbook for mitigating the risk. The playbook includes identification criteria, activation plans, and stakeholder communications on the risk's identification, during the occurrence and once the risk has passed.
-
We create a safe learning environment that allows you to test how you would handle a sustained bombardment by an environmental group alleging greenwashing. This is done by creating a simulation for your organisation using your day-to-day tools.
The Intermediate Kit takes sustainability to the next level of maturity and resilience. This is done by revising corporate messaging and expanding tailored messaging for individual spokespeople. Furthermore, the key issues are identified and a crisis communications plan is prepared for the key sustainability organisational risk and tested in the form of a simulation.
Advanced Sustainability Communications Kit
The Advanced Communications Kit is aimed at those organisations that have developed a technical action plan for the path to net zero and are about to or have started reporting on its progress.
The Advanced Kit takes the principles and frameworks developed in the previous phases and aims to share the organisation’s progress and best practices, demonstrating thought leadership in the industry.

The Advanced Kit takes account of the organisation’s progress and positions it as an industry leader through its sustainability communications. Copywriting guidelines are prepared to translate technical reports into consumer language that enables customers to make informed decisions. Furthermore, it allows the organisation’s teams to understand what the organisation is doing and the role they play in achieving it. As the messaging and organisation’s position develops, communications plans and playbooks are updated and enhanced to ensure the communication team is always ready to protect and enhance reputation.
